Scent for the vase.
Just below the flowers the stem makes a bend of almost ninety degrees, so all the little flowers face upwards instead of sideways. They open one by one, from the bottom up, so you enjoy them for weeks. They flower from July into September and grow 30 to 60 cm.

You plant the corms from March through May, 3 to 5 cm deep and 5 to 10 cm apart. Starting indoors or in a cold greenhouse can be done early, planting outside can be done as soon as it no longer freezes. Freesias like light and a little coolness.
In a pot they do just as well as in the border. The scent draws bees and butterflies too.
After flowering, let the leaves die back, because they feed the corm. Then lift the corms out of the ground and store them dry and cool until the next spring.
Practical: Freesias are not hardy here. Plant them in spring, give them support, and lift the corms out of the ground in autumn.
