A garden that spreads itself.
These bulbs make new bulbs and drop seed, so they shift a little every year. After a few years they stand in the grass and under the shrubs, in places where you never put them. Do not mow the grass until the leaves have turned yellow.
You plant from September through November, and after that the main thing is: do nothing more. Snowdrops and bluebells are happiest under trees and shrubs that are bare in winter. Crocuses can go loose in the lawn.
The leaves are the secret. Leave them standing after flowering until they have turned yellow, in the grass too, because through those leaves every little bulb charges itself up for the next year. Only then can you mow.
