Clean modern garden
Repetition makes a garden calm.
Thirty of the same tulip in one block gives more calm than ten different ones. These bulbs are selected for that: quiet shapes, one or two colours, and enough of the same to fill a block. Set them in blocks and leave green around them.
You plant from September through November. Keep it simple: one kind per block, all at the same depth and the same distance apart. Tulips, for instance, go 15 cm deep and 10 cm apart, and a block is filled in no time. The distance for each kind is on the card on the bag.
Allium fits well here. The flower is a clean sphere on a bare stem, and once finished the ball keeps its shape for months. So leave it standing, even when the colour has gone.
After flowering, let the leaves turn yellow before you tidy up. That way the bulbs keep their strength and the blocks come back next year.
