Snowdrops
The first flower of the year.
The tip of each leaf is hardened, so it can push through frozen ground and through snow. That is why the snowdrop is already there in February, and in a mild winter even in January. They grow 10 to 15 cm and spread with new bulbs and with seed.
Flowering month
Hand-selected for quality and size.
Plant from September to November, 5 to 10 cm deep and 5 to 10 cm apart. Snowdrops like sun or partial shade and are happiest under trees and shrubs that are bare in winter. A pot works too.
After flowering, let the foliage turn completely yellow and leave the bulbs in place. If you want to move a group, do it right after flowering, foliage and all. That is when they settle best.
Mice and deer leave snowdrops alone. And for bees already flying on a mild winter day, they are one of the first places with food.
Practical: Snowdrops dry out quickly. Plant them within a few days of arrival.
