Tulips
In April, everyone looks at your garden.
A tulip is never still: it opens in the morning and closes again at night, and in the vase it even grows on by a few centimetres. The earliest start in March, most follow in April and May. Plant an early one next to a late one and you have colour from March into May.

Plant in October or November, and it can be done until mid-December. Wait calmly until the soil feels cold, tulips like that. Set each bulb 15 cm deep and 10 cm from the next, in a spot in full sun. A pot works too.
After flowering, cut off the spent flower. Leave the leaves until they are yellow, because that is how the bulb saves strength for next year.
There are tulips of 10 cm and tulips of 60 cm tall. The low wild varieties come back by themselves every year. The large well-known varieties flower most richly in the first year, so plant a few more of those every autumn.
Practical: Rabbits and deer like to eat tulips. Plant daffodils among them, they stay away from those.
